Chamber Committies

Manage Your Investment in the Madison Chamber of Commerce. Get Involved.

The Madison Chamber of Commerce belongs to its investors – You. Joining a committee or task force is one of the best ways to make the most of your Chamber investment. The relationships that you develop with other members can be invaluable to the success of your business. Committees also give you a chance to display your talents and expertise in a way that can benefit the Chamber and the business community.

Contact the Madison Chamber to find out if there is an opening in the committee you are interested in, or to find out other ways you get involved.

Committees:

Ambassador Program

Purpose: Chamber Ambassador’s are the Chamber’s main core of volunteer professional members. The Ambassador program consists of one Chairperson who serves a 2-year term, and up to a maximum of 20 Ambassador Volunteers.

Ambassadors manage registration at events, meet & greet during events to include monthly membership luncheons and Chamber Business After Hours, and serve as the external face of the Chamber’s professional membership.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/month

Governmental Affairs

Purpose: Attending to Governmental Affairs is an important part of the Chamber’s role, keeping our membership informed of legislation and discussion that can impact member businesses in the area. This committee attends Madison City Council meetings, participates in Business Council of Alabama functions, and is connected with legislative affairs in Montgomery.

Members of this committee provide reports to the Managing Director of the Madison Chamber on a monthly basis and serve as the experts to the Chamber in all Governmental Affairs.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/month

Special Events

Purpose: The Madison Chamber hosts a number of special events each year, each with the intent of showcasing our member investors and to help raise funding for the Chamber's efforts. These annual events include Taste of Madison, Small Business Awards, and the Chamber's Business Expo & Kids Day.

Time Commitment: Periodic per major annual events

Business Development

Purpose: The Business Development Committee serves as the arm of the Madison Chamber’s Small Business Development initiatives, and is composed of area business leaders who can provide subject matter expertise in all areas of business growth.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/month

Youth Council

Purpose: The Madison Chamber’s Youth Council is a program initiated to engage area youth in business, government, and community service. Members are high school juniors and seniors, and are accepted by application only.

The Youth Council participates in Chamber functions through volunteer work, meetings with local elected officials, and have access to a wide variety of community service projects. Scholarships are awarded to Youth Council participants annually.

Volunteer Committees

Committee Volunteers focus on short-term projects. Volunteers work through the planning and execution of the events below. Volunteer positions are varied to accommodate members’ professional schedules and areas of expertise, so check with the Chamber staff to see how you can help.

Chamber Small Business Awards - September

Purpose: An event that acknowledges those Chamber member businesses who have achieved significant growth while partnering as a regular community steward.

A Taste of Madison - March

Purpose: An evening of fun and entertainment as the Madison Chamber showcases area restaurants, caterers, and event planners. The event includes live entertainment, silent auctions, and hourly door prizes. This is the annual fundraiser for the Madison Chamber of Commerce.

Madison Business Expo & Kids Day - August

Purpose: Showcasing Madison Chamber Businesses, this annual Saturday event provides business to business and business to consumer vendors. Kids Day rounds out the day offering fun for the entire family.

Breakfast with Santa – December

Purpose: The annual event sponsored by the Madison Chamber and managed by the Madison Chamber Youth Council. The breakfast is provided free of charge to area Head Start youth.
